Discover the art of open-die forging: a workshop for female students
Speaker/s
We (the CRC 1153 and the Institute of Forming und Machines) warmly invite all interested female students to our exciting open-die forging workshop on 21st March. In this workshop you can get to know the world of open-die forging.
Open-die forging
Open-die forging is the forming process as it has always been known; the workpiece is traditionally shaped using a hammer, anvil and auxiliary tools. The process enables customised shaping through precise movements of the workpiece. Open-die forging is typically used for the production of individual pieces, as it is not cost-efficient in mass production. The aims of forming technology are diverse and range from improving mechanical properties to producing primary material for further machining processes.
Whether you have experience or want to try something new: This workshop offers you a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating technique of open-die forging.
What you can expect
Basics of open-die forging: Immerse yourself in the basics of open-die forging and learn the essential techniques for creating your own works of art from metal.
Practical exercises: Under the guidance of an experienced professional blacksmith, you can test your skills and take your first steps in blacksmithing. Let your creativity run free and discover the versatility of the material.
Community and exchange: Meet like-minded people, make new contacts and experience an inspiring atmosphere together that will further deepen your interest in forging.
