Project area B – Forming

Project Area B is concerned with the further processing of the hybrid semi-finished workpieces into the final component. Here, the design and development of different forming processes for the hybrid semi-finished products is in the focus. The setting of a targeted material flow and the precise shaping of complex geometries play a central role, taking into account the different flow properties of the material pairings used and existing joining qualities. The existing process chains are continuously developed further, taking into account the findings to date. The shaping processes must be specifically adapted to the hybrid semi-finished products supplied by project area A, so that adequate component quality can only be achieved here through intensive cooperation and continuous adaptation and optimization of the respective processes. The work in the shaping project area is supported by process-accompanying simulations as well as by the use of different test methods for evaluating the manufacturing quality from project area C.
